Have you checked your pesticide labels lately? How many ingredients do they list? Probably less than 1% - right? This is because, according to Beyond Pesticides, pesticides manufacturers are required only to list the active ingredients. However, the inert, or inactive ingredients can account for the remaining 99% which can be highly toxic and poisonous.

The EPA rates 7 of the top 15 pesticides used on U.S. cotton crops as potential or known human carcinogens.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission connects 150 chemicals commonly found in our homes to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological disorders.

Q: Dear Lisa,

I have chronic daily headaches and they have gotten worse and worse. I've tried every medication out there and every type of doctor out there. I felt much better when I was on vacation and as soon as I got home they were back again - though not as bad. It is awfully strange that I was in pain again upon my return. What are your thoughts on my house situation?

A: Dear Wendy,

This is not uncommon, and definitely not the first time I have heard of this. In fact, this is exactly what happened to me.

After moving into a newly remodeled house that was out gassing every kind of VOC under the sun, I realized I too, felt better when I was out of the home, on vacation, etc. The term, Sick Building Syndrome, is widely used in commercial spaces and can be described as: "An illness affecting workers in office buildings, characterized by skin irritations, headache, and respiratory problems, and thought to be caused by indoor pollutants, microorganisms, or inadequate ventilation." This same response can be found in today's homes and most people are unaware that their home is to blame for their declining health. I would recommend having your air tested with one of your Home Air Quality Test Kits. Once the sources are found, then elimination of the problems can begin! Be Green & Be Healthy,
